'Clarinda' (Agnes Maclehose 1759-1841) was a friend and mentor to Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns, and was an inspiration for his popular love song, "Ae Fond Kiss". Her memorial stone can be found in the nearby Canongate Churchyard.
